I think we spend most of the afternoons tubing...it's what the kids love the most! We have tried every combo and even all 4 at a time. They truly could do this all day long!
Today though, we made our annual trip to the Vermilion Dam and had a fantastic time, as usual. We made many crossings back and forth across the dam, then enjoyed some ice cream on the deck.
We have also had a visitor the past couple of days. He just sits there for hours looking over the lake.

Perfect MN Day
Picture perfect day on the Lake today! We had beautful sunshine the whole day with calm water. We spent pretty much all day on the water. Dad took us on a boat ride around the lake and we stopped at a beach area to swim for awhile.
After dinner we all went to the mini golf place for a round of putt-putt and ice cream.

Lake Days
The mornings at the lake are usually cool and sometimes rainy. We take advantage of that time by going to get scones at Sulus or just reading and relaxing.
But after lunch it usually gets just gorgeous and that's when the fun begins! We've been doing a lot of tubing, boat rides to Timbuktu, and jumping on the trampoline.

Back to the Lake
So, I know I haven't blogged since Halloween, but we are back at the lake and Issy's friend Lacey is back with us. That means I'm trying to post regularly so her family can see what's going on at the cabin. We left early in the morning, ate at Leeann Chins in the city, and arrived at the cabin a little after 5pm. Very cool! And as you can see everyone is doing what they do best....
Issy and Lacey riding around in the golf cart
Chloe doing a little fishing
The dogs doing what dogs do
And finally, Eric and Samuel trying to get their lure unstuck!

Happy Halloween
One of my favorite holidays mainly because I like the fall season so much. This year the girls asked a couple of friends to come and trick or treat with them. So I made a whole bunch of fun Halloween dinner items for them before they went out and collected pounds upon pounds of candy. How is it that they each come home with more candy than I even bought for us to hand out? We had a great evening to trick or treat, especially considering that it has rained almost every day in October this year.

A Boy's Life, or EWWW as I like to call it
So, this is what I found in my bathtub Sunday afternoon. Luckily I don't like to take baths because I don't think I can go in there again.
Samuel has been collecting random toads that he finds in our woods and we have a nice aquarium that he keeps them in. But I guess he felt they needed to get a new perspective on life. Again, eewwww.

Back to School
Chloe and Samuel went back to school last Wednesday and they came home that afternoon proclaiming that, "3rd Grade ROCKS"! So I take that as a good sign that it will be a great year. Samuel is most excited about the science table in 3rd grade so we spent the first afternoon collecting cicada exoskeletons. What his teacher will do with them, I am not sure, but to a 3rd grade boy, they are gold!
Isabel went to middle school this morning and I wasn't as sad as I thought I'd be. She looked so mature and was so excited to be off to a new school that I couldn't help being excited for her. Can't wait to hear what she thought of her first day! Thanks to Nathan for driving her to school!
